Recipe: Sautéed Prawns with Sliced Carrots
When we're not making pottery, we're making food to enjoy in our pottery! Sometimes it is the super simple dishes that keep us from ordering take-away on a weeknight. Today, we're sharing a Sautéed Prawns with Sliced Carrots dish that we've been loving lately. It is not only a visual delight but also a testament to how a few simple ingredients can come together. It doesn't hurt that literally any food looks amazing on one of our handmade pottery plates, platters, or bowls.
Sautéed Prawns with Sliced Carrots
Ingredients:
- 1 pound large prawns, peeled and deveined
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 cups sliced carrots, parboiled
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Directions:
-
Pat the prawns dry with paper towels. Season them with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Allow the butter to melt and the oil to coat the pan evenly.
-
Add minced garlic to the pan, sautéing for about 1 minute until it becomes fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown; we want to infuse the oil with the garlic's aroma.
-
Place the seasoned prawns in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. This quick cooking time ensures that the prawns remain tender and juicy.
-
Add the parboiled sliced carrots to the pan, tossing them with the prawns and garlic. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the carrots are tender yet retain a delightful crunch.
-
Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan, allowing it to melt and coat the prawns and carrots. This final touch adds a luxurious richness to the dish.
-
Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley (optional) over the sautéed prawns and carrots. This not only adds a pop of color but also a burst of freshness.
Sautéed Prawns with Sliced Carrots is the epitome of a quick and elegant meal. The combination of juicy prawns, sweet carrots, and aromatic garlic makes for a delightful symphony of flavors. Whether you're preparing a weeknight dinner or entertaining guests, this dish is sure to impress when served on one of our handmade pottery plates or platters. It is shown here on a Medium Square Platter from our Mackerel collection.
